This property on the hills overlooking Turin had been renovated in modern style, and the clients wanted the design of the garden to reflect the inspiration of the house, with uncluttered spaces and clean lines. The area in front of the entrance gate is divided into two sections: one laid out with ornamental grasses, and another with more traditional plants. In the middle of the garden, a 7 x 7 m area is set with brick raised beds that mark out curving walkways. The beds are planted with Buxus sempervirens, Ophiopogon japonicus and Allium giganteum, along with grasses like Miscanthus and Pennisetum for a soft, sophisticated effect. The driveway is flanked by Phyllostachys viridis ‘Mitis’ and Phyllostachys nigra. At the entrance to the house, a cement pool with pond and aquatic plants, bridged by two teak walkways, is not only a striking feature, but also provides transition between levels.
