Even a small terrace, that is not ideally oriented for plants, can become a pleasing and attractive retreat. The colour palette chosen for this project was all in shades of blue, from palest azure to deep violet, with touches of white to add light. A trellis of interwoven iron strips, painted pastel blue, was constructed to support climbing plants. This same material was also formed into a stand for placing pots of annual flowers. The plants chosen include white and blue violets, Ceanothus, hellebore varieties, climbing roses and Buxus sempervirens.
