The first design consideration for this city-centre terrace was the need to create privacy. To do this, a trellis of interwoven iron strips was built to support climbing plants, including a beautiful specimen of purple wisteria. When in bloom, it fills the terrace with its colour and fragrance. Large chimney pots already provided a natural subdivision of spaces, which where furnished as rooms: a small table with iron chairs and stools for the eating area, and a sofa with removable cushions for the sitting area. Buxus sempervirens in terracotta pots complete the layout.
